Wild Tending

In this piece I work with ceremony and performance to find ways to interact with the non-human world, producing emotionally transformative events for audiences through song, ritual action and participatory performance. Wild Tending’s Ceremony and the Feminine is an interactive ceremonial performance that celebrates our yearning for rites, and connection to the land - where a non-human spirit of the feminine tends to injuries, in shadows and radiance.
This piece is supported by Arts Council England DYCP, with mentorship from Fern Smith and music from Jaime Norman.

Somewhere beyond the darkness, through the velvet curtains, there lies an unseen and mysterious realm - a place where the domestic has formed new life; where pillows talk, teacups clink in bitter jealousy, the wallpaper dances and the promising light of The Lamp leads the way.
We are all looking for the light. This performance was an interactive and immersive group performance directed and led by Izzie Major with an ensemble cast. I devised and played the role of the Lamp - the all-seeing, all-knowing figure of the domestic realm, who offers spiritual advice to audience members. The Lingering Loom,
Solo Performance for Spill Yer Tea, The Fashion Hub, Liverpool

In this performance, I connect with the action of lifting material exploring the notion of the loom as a critique of the servitude of women and their bodies throughout history. The loom that ‘lingers’ becomes a metaphor for the creativity and life weaving of the feminine, where women weave their powerful stories. They do so on a loom that is inextricably tied to the social tapestry of women’s servitude that is historic, abusive and ongoing.

Reet Good #1, which took place in various spaces, was the culmination of a four day co-creation and collective sharing of artistic practice between six Deaf, Disabled and Neurodivergent artists who were provided space to share, create and reimagine work within the context of the Derby City Landscape.

This performance merged improvised performance, movement and political text with improvised music performed by the Cardboard Citizens New Music Ensemble - an experimental music group whose members are all homeless or ex-homeless people. This work also featured performer Rebecca Mackenzie and was directed by Reynaldo Young.

Invited talk - performative presentation given for DARC collective's 'Sully night', London (2017)
DARC collective's 'Sully night' aims to "ignite a conversation toward a specific topic, to gather people together and to share ideas". This performance 'Battle Dress' drew from the themes of my performances, through the documents, the dresses and the debris. Extracts from past performances, poetry and songs were performed along the way.

I developed 'Coral' based on the benefit system in the UK and the inherent dehuminisation of individuals who claim disability benefits, which was performed in Latvia and Warsaw

The Golden Life Vest
Site specific solo performance for No Futures Performance Biennial, Greece (2016)
“Any object, wholly or partially immersed in a fluid, is buoyed up by a force equal to the weight of the fluid displaced by the object.” (Archimedes, 250 BC)
I developed this piece as a site-specific performance using storytelling and poetry, responding to the international migrant crises. It was inspired by Orpheus Beaumont, the women who created one of the earliest lifejackets. It was performed on a boat going to the island of Kythira, Greece, for the No Futures Performance Biennial

This solo show was developed for my MA in creative practice and focused on ethical ways to engage with the violence of war, employing the figurehead of the earthworm to disseminate knowledge. This show was first performed in Liverpool. It was then invited to be performed in Utrecht by philosopher Rosi Braidotti, and then to Rome for the annual Gilles Deleuze studies conference.

This political comedy was a collaboration between myself, Izzie Major and Dora Colquhoun, which critiqued a patriarchal and capitalist society. We won the Making Art Award from the Unity Theatre in Liverpool, and received Arts Council funding to tour the show to the Brighton Fringe.
